SET UP ONCE · CREATE IN CONVERSATION
Connect your assistant to Lavis Studio.
Lavis is a remote MCP service for image generation, video, text to speech and audio transcription. Use https://lavis.app/mcp with an app that supports Streamable HTTP and OAuth.
Updated October 9, 2026. App labels and availability can vary by version, account and plan. Lavis is an independent service.
1. Set up your Lavis account
Sign in with Google, review your balance and choose the default model for each capability. New-user credits and current rates are shown in your account. You do not need to supply a model-provider API key.
2. Connect from ChatGPT
- On ChatGPT web, open Plugins, select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Workspace permissions and security restrictions apply.
- Enter Lavis Studio as the name and
https://lavis.app/mcpas the Server URL. Choose OAuth for authentication; use CIMD if the setup offers it. Review the risk warning before choosing Create as a plugin. - Follow the authorization flow to Lavis, sign in with Google if needed, and review the app requesting access before approving it.
- Install the resulting plugin from your personal plugins, then type
@in a conversation to select it. Ask it to check your Lavis balance and list available tools before generating media.
This is a custom connection, not a claim that Lavis is listed in the ChatGPT app directory. Availability depends on your account and plan.
Connect from Cursor
Add a remote MCP server in Cursor’s MCP settings. Where configuration is JSON-based, use:
{
"mcpServers": {
"lavis": { "url": "https://lavis.app/mcp" }
}
}Use the server’s authentication action to complete OAuth, then check whether its tools are available in your agent chat. Cursor compatibility is still being tested; a successful connection does not guarantee every interactive preview.
Connect from VS Code
Use the MCP server configuration supported by your VS Code and assistant extension:
{
"servers": {
"lavis": {
"type": "http",
"url": "https://lavis.app/mcp"
}
}
}Start the server and complete its OAuth sign-in. VS Code compatibility is still being tested. Consult your client’s current instructions if its configuration differs.
3. Check the connection before creating
Check my Lavis credit balance and available models. Tell me the cost before generating anything.
The lavis_account tool reports your balance and prices. Then choose an image, a short video, a voiceover or a transcript. A billable request spends credits; a failed generation is refunded by the service.
Troubleshooting
- Opening /mcp shows Unauthorized.
- This endpoint requires a Lavis OAuth token. A browser visit or an anonymous request is not a connection test; begin from your client’s MCP setup.
- The tools connect, but no interactive preview appears.
- The host must support MCP Apps. Use result links and downloads when available; connection support and widget support are separate.
- A request stops for insufficient credits.
- Check the account balance and model price. Self-service payments are not yet available; contact conduct@lavis.app about a top-up.
- A video is still in progress.
- Use the returned job ID with
video_status, rather than submitting another paid job. - I want to disconnect.
- Revoke the app from your Lavis account. Download generated files you need before the 7-day expiry.
